Momentpix Approaching 100 Uploads

Momentpix was started at KSB in order to make pictures taken by KSB at public places to be made available so that their owners and others interested could download them for safe keeping. It is frustrating for KSB to be taking so many pictures without possibilities of those

whose pictures are being taken having an opportunity to view them or even have them in custody.

The Momentpix Project is now approaching 100 uploaded pictures and KSB takes this opportunity to thank everybody who has been sending in comments and recommendations.

It was interesting when a Kenyan lady told KSB that after her picture was published, she got a boyfriend who, apparently, had been swept off his feet by her urembo. It was both funny and interesting because KSB is not officially a dating blog but sometimes, some things just happen and some people gain in interesting ways. We hope they will soon throw a pre-wedding.

One point which needs to be made is that not all pictures taken at public places can appear at KSB. The reason is that any picture which appears at Momentpix is normally scrutinized to ensure that it is presentable and portrays the person or people in the picture in good light.

To protect people’s reputations or to avoid putting people in awkward situations, KSB avoids publishing pictures which portray people in a negative light.

Some examples will suffice. There are Kenyans who are married but in public, one may pose with an unlikely companion, sometimes, in a friendly embrace. Although there has been no serious problem, there is a single case when a Kenyan informed KSB that a picture he had taken in a certain posture nearly created a crisis between him and his girlfriend who became jealous.

The concern was that the Kenyan had informed the girlfriend that he wouldn’t be attending a function but later changed his mind because his situation changed abruptly. The girlfriend missed the occasion because she did not want to go and hang there alone. By the time the boyfriend called to ask if she could make it, it was late as she had decided to go for a hair-do instead and she couldn’t just make it.

When the guy’s picture was published at KSB with a Kenyan beauty, the girlfriend became jealous and an argument started. The girlfriend thought that she had been set to avoid the function by being told to attend at the last minute for the guy to hook up with another lady. The good part is that the issue was settled amicably.

Another example is the case of a guy who was photographed being taken out of a Jamhuri day Party with security guards after he took one too many. He became rowdy and he had to be walked out. Such a picture could compromise the guys reputation if published and for this reason, there is normally a selection.

Then, there are pictures that are just ugly or off-moment. An example is one taken when someone is just beginning to smile and when the shutter closes, the mouth appears as though it is not at the right place. You may have taken a picture but when it appears, you appear as though your eyes are closed although the set up is not like you ought to have closed your eyes. Such pictures are normally filtered off.

We hope that readers are enjoying the Momentpix. Now that the Moments are approaching 100, may be it is time to make a proper update of the Moment archive which has not been updated for a long time because of time factor.
