An Inside Edition Of The “Hellengate Scandal”

KSB readers must have been overwhelmed by the outpouring of venomous comments on what a commentator dubbed the ”Hellengate scandal” during the inauguration ceremony of “Comments section” that had just been opened at KSB and which has remained closed to readers since the Blogsite was set up in July 2006.

What began as a strategic publicity operation in Aftonbladet Newspaper to boost Hellen’s chances of stopping her deportation to Kenya following the collapse of her application for a residence Permit in Sweden quickly snowballed into a mega scandal that later, advanced into a serious personal crisis for Hellen which has left her reputation in tatters.

As commentaries by a constellation of readers introduced KSB enthusiasts to the spectacle of Hellen’s dirty laundry being washed in public, Hellen’s close friends and sister alike found themselves on the horns of dilemma as one commentator after another descended at KSB with bits of sensitive information that pointed to a collective conspiracy that might have led to the packaging of the Hellengate scandal.

An interesting aspect of the scandal is that the circle of friends who have been mentioned several times by commentators have failed to emerge to defend Hellen or to give an alternative view that may shed more light or counter the anti-Hellen propaganda that is increasingly spreading in the net.

Because of its multi-faceted features, the story is of immense importance to members of Kenya-Stockholm and because of the huge amount of information filtering within the Kenya-Stockholm blogsphere, it is important that KSB readers get a consistent and reliable narrative that could lead to a deeper understanding of the case.

From a piecing together of the complicated jig-saw puzzle whose pieces are now scattered all over KSB comment section, Hellen arrived in Sweden in 2005 on a tourist visa following an invitation by her sister. At some point, she fell in love with a Nigerian national whom, according to Jacqueline, Bryan’s mother who called KSB, nestled with Hellen for some time.

It is during this relationship that Hellen is believed (by Bryan’s mother) to have conceived Rennah Chentelle, the three month old baby girl who is also trapped in the middle of the crisis. According to a sampling of “facts” spilled at KSB, the Nigerian dude did not have papers although a KISS agent assigned to the story reported that Hellen believed that the lad had settled in Sweden and could bail her out by helping her acquire residence status.

It is this belief that apparently led Hellen into accepting to get pregnant because once this happened, she was informed by a circle of friends that her chances of being allowed to stay could quadruple. A strategic mistake Hellen’s advisors made is that they did not verify the validity of claims by the Naia about his residence status.

HELLEN “WAS MADLY IN LOVE” WITH NIGERIAN BOYFRIEND
This was partly because they depended on information from Hellen that the guy was already sorted out. In reality, the prospective hubby had merely baited Hellen with an “illusion of a paper” as he consumed the goods. In religious terms that could be expounded in detail by the Bagarmossen church, the guy had given “a false promise” and he had a big advantage because Hellen believed him.

According to a source close to the tightly-knit Hellen’s Network, one person who warned Hellen about the lad is her sister whom, at one point, is reported to have complained that the Naia had “taken over Hellen’s mind”.

She was worried that “something needed to be done” because Hellen had fallen “madly in love” with him for reasons which could not be immediately understood. By then, Hellen was not yet PG. Another problem was that Hellen appeared to have been spending a good chunk of her income on the guy and to quote one contact, “she used to give him the whole of her salary”. It is this strange behaviour that allegedly alerted Hellen’s sister that something was amiss in the situation.

Another problem was that the guy was very unavailable to Hellen’s friends and given the reputation of ma West Africa within the EA Community, friends wanted a detailed check on the guy but he reportedly remained slippery.

The news of Hellen’s pregnancy was devastating because once the Naia got wind about developments, a crisis of sorts also exploded because the Naia did not have papers and was also in the process of fixing his stay apparently with a Swedish lassie reportedly of Finish extraction. It was like the guy was double-dealing without Hellen’s knowledge and when she got wind that the guy was paperless, she entered into crisis.

One question which still remains to be answered in the situation is how the guy could have accepted to make Hellen pregnant when he did not have papers and at a time when he was himself manufacturing his papers with another woman. This is because of the economic implications of baby making in Sweden and other legal engagements that are only possible if one parent is papered. Anyway…

In a moment of panic, Hellen allegedly sought advice from her circle of Kenyan friends because she was already PG while the prospect of papers with her would be hubby looked gloomy because the ka-guy was also in her kinda situation. A series of brainstorming sessions then began among friends and it is at this point that Man Bryan began to emerge into the picture as a possible solution to the crisis. To be continued…in P2.
