ODM Scandinavia’s Statement On Peace Agreement Signed In Kenya

kibaki raila

The Orange Democratic Movement in Scandinavia congratulates President Mwai Kibaki and Hon Raila Odinga for having reached a power sharing agreement after days of uncertainty on a critical issue that has been holding our country hostage. We take this opportunity to thank Hon Kofi Annan and his team of Eminent Africans and the African Union for a job well done. Likewise, ODM Scandinavia thanks the two teams of negotiators from both ODM and PNU for their time and commitment during the long and arduous process of working out a deal. There have been ups and downs, agreements and disagreements but at long last, the two Parties have an acceptable deal.

Most importantly, ODM-Scandinavia takes this opportunity to thank supporters, well wishers and sympathizers especially those based in Kenya, some of whom paid with their precious lives so that Kenya can be where it is today. The Mass actions ODM has been calling across the country have been fundamental in keeping the negotiation process alive and it is for this outstanding contribution that ODM supporters in Kenya also need special recognition.

The deal, that was signed today at a public ceremony in Nairobi, entails the creation of the post of an Executive Prime Minister who must come from the Party with majority seats in Parliament, the creation of two Deputy Prime Ministers nominated from ODM and PNU, a 50-50 sharing of Cabinet positions, a Cabinet that comprises of a President, Vice president, Prime Minister and other Cabinet ministers, among other recommendations.

According to the deal, the Prime Minister can only be dismissed through a vote of no confidence in Parliament while the deal also allows for the dissolution of the Coalition if one of the Coalition members pulls out or if the Coalition agrees to do so in writing.

Further, the deal provides that members of the Cabinet cannot be fired without consultations between the Coalition parties. Most importantly, the agreement states that terms of the agreement will be entrenched in the Kenyan Constitution and this will make the deal not just legally binding but also permanently feasible. ODM-Scandinavia believes that there is enough checks and balances to ensure a long term survival of the agreement unlike the MoU which collapsed soon after Narc seized power.

After a careful study of the agreement, ODM-Scandinavia believes that the deal is fair under the circumstances and that it should be acceptable to the Kenyan people who have been waiting for a peaceful resolution to the crisis. Our view is that the agreement covers major areas of concern on the question of power sharing and there is enough reason to believe that it is workable.

With the impossibility of the President single handedly firing members of the Cabinet, and with the provision that terms of the agreement will be entrenched in the Constitution, ODM Scandinavia believes that the deal has enough checks and balances to guarantee a democratic and viable Coalition government that will rescue Kenyan from the current crisis. It is for this reason that ODM is encouraging members and other Kenyans of good will to accept the deal.

Another important aspect of the deal is that the Coalition can be dissolved if one of the parties pulls out. What this means is that this provision will check the recklessness of government and encourage consultations especially on sensitive issues, unlike the past when the President had all powers and took all decisions in the running of government because the power arrangement was based on a “Winner take it all” configuration.

ODM-Scandinavia welcomes the convening of Parliament next Thursday to begin the implementation process of the deal. The view of the Party branch is that the deal is a step forward in Kenya’s democratization process and that the agreement should be supported by all progressive Kenyans genuinely looking for ways of strengthening democracy and the rule of law in our country.

Lastly, ODM Scandinavia congratulates leaders of the mother Party for having lived to expectation by not accepting a diluted and weak deal which could have compromised the lives that have already been lost in the process of searching for a solution, the human suffering that has been experienced, the destruction of property that has been witnessed, the instability the country has experienced in the last two months and the insecurity that has been rampant in Kenya since the crisis began on 30th December.

The signing of a seemingly acceptable deal means that the suffering and sacrifices Kenyans have gone through has not been in vain. ODM Scandinavia believes that the next step should be dominated by activities linked to implementation of the agreement, reconciliation to heal the wounds that have been created and reconstruction as part of the strategy to move the country forward.

ODM Scandinavia appeals to Kenyans in Stockholm to take note of developments in Kenya and reach out to one another as part of the healing and reconciliation process that will now rescue our country from the abyss of chaos and uncertainty. Long live Kenya, Long live the struggle for democracy and the rule of law in our country.

Mrs Hellen Opwapo,
Chairperson, ODM Scandinavia

Mr. Githuku wa Muirani Responds To “Prayer Challenge”

Those who are Christians and believe that Jesus Christ was and is son of God,believes that by praying to our creator, we do communicate with him and we can submit freely all our needs and desires to him and him only. When things goes wrong in any country, we do tend to blame the government but in the real sense its we as Christians who have failed in our duties to pray for the governments. Here in Sweden, we are told that, whenever you are in trouble, call 112.

Even young children in schools knows about 112. For us Christians, God’s hot line is Jeremiah 33:3-”Call to me and i will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know” Our key to victory is “Chronicles 7:14-”if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and forgive their sin and will heal their land”. Why do we pray?

Isaiah 54:17-”no weapon forged against you will prevail, and you will refute every tongue that accuses you. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, and this is their vindication from me, declares the LORD.”

What prayers does: Gen. 25:21-”Isaac prayed to the LORD on behalf of his wife, because she was barren.The LORD answered his prayer, and his wife Rebbecca became pregnant”. 2Kings 6:18-” As the enemy came down toward him, Elisha prayed to the LORD, “Strike these people with blindness”. So he struck them with blindness, as Elisha had asked” Read also 2Kings 20. Prayer gives direction: Jeremiah 42:3-”Pray that the LORD your God Will tell us where we should go and what we should do”.

Mark 11:23-” I tell you the truth, if anyone says to this mountain, ” Go, throw yourself into the sea”, and does not doubt in his heart but believes that what he/she says will happen, it will be done for him/her”. James 5:13- “Is any one of you in trouble? He/she should pray.Is anyone happy? Let him/her sing songs of praise”. why should we call God? Psalm 145:18-” The LORD is near to all who call on him. to all who call on him in truth”. Psalm 50:15-” and call upon me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you will honor me”.

Psalm 56:9-” Then my enemies will turn back when I call for help, By this I know that God is for me”. Psalm 25:14-”The LORD confides in those who fear him; he makes his covenant known to them”. Prayer frustrates our enemies. Micah 7:7-8-”But for me, I watch in hope for the LORD, I wait for God my Savior; my God will hear me. Do not gloat over me, my enemy! Though I have fallen, I will rise. Though I sit in darkness, the LORD will be my light”.

God is doing a new thing in Kenya and to the Kenyan people. He will hear our cry and he will answer our prayers for peace and stability in our country.Its through prayer that we do communicate with God and let us all Christians joins together and may the name of our Almighty LORD reign supreme all the times. Amen!

What Happened To Kenya-Stockholm Prayers For Peace?

muirani pb300182_thumbnail.jpg bible naomi3

I just wanted to ask Pastor Samson, Pastor Muraya, Pastor Beatrice, Pastor Overa, Brother Jamlik, Pastor Muirani, Sister Catherine, Sister Lissa, Pastor Tilla, Sister Josephine, Brother Saidimu, Sister Naomi and all the holy brothers and sisters in Stockholm; I just wanted to ask them some polite questions which I first need to put into context.

Since the crisis in our country began after the rigging or after the victory (depending on where you stand) last December, Kenyans in Stockholm have been praying like never before for Jesus to open a way so that peace can return to our country.

At Bagarmossen Church, there have been special prayers for Kenya on a regular basis, at St Klara Church it has been hectic while at St Emanuel Church where Ambassador Purity prays, the faithful have been fellowshipping and swalloshipping at the Church’s African Department every Friday night in a special “disco session” complete with music, piano tunes and gospel songs to pray for peace in Kenya. Haleluyha and Bwana asifiwe rants have rent the air as the crisis in Kenya came into International focus.

Kenyans in Stockholm have literally been crawling on their knees, rolling on the floor and speaking in tongues while others have been jerking their bodies violently, revoking the name of Jesus Christ to send his spirit down to earth to sooth Raila Odinga, Mwai Kibaki, William Ruto, Martha Karua, John Michuki and others so that these guys can agree on that one kathing – “Political settlement”.

They have asked God to give Kofi Annan the wisdom, the fore-sight, the vision, the charisma, the advantage, the power, the glory and all the tricks in the book to bring those two guys who are fighting over earthly State House to understand that precious lives are being lost because of them.

Different kinds of bibles of different shapes and colours from different regions of the world have been opened and closed several times – the Gideon’s bible, The King James Bible, The Revised Standard Version, The English Standard Bible, The Living Bible, The Good News Bible, The New International Bible, The Jerusalem Bible and others, all in the name of pleading with God to help Kenya so that the suffering of our people can end.

Chapters and verses have been read from the Gospel according to this and that Mfarisai, interpreted and re-interpreted to relate Kenya to biblical situations where God did intervene to help suffering people. Sermons have been delivered, confessions have been made and God has repeatedly been requested to forgive Wakenya the sins they may have committed if that is what it takes to end the crisis in our bleeding country lakini wapi.

MASS MOBILIZATION FOR PRAYERS WITH MOBILE PHONES
Truly, we have heard how Moses led the Isralites out of Egypt for his people to escape slavery and suffering at the hands of Pharaoh and how he proceeded to open the red sea for his people to escape from their tormentors, how Jesus fed the starving 5,000 followers by turning stones into bread and how Samson slew the Philistines with a donkey jaw-bone because he was on a divine mission. All these have been cited to raise hopes and great expectation among our sullen people that their suffering too could be brought to a permanent end by non other than Sir God the Almighty who is capable of doing miracles.

Some Kenyans known to consume large amounts of alcohol stopped drinking and converted their mobile phones into instruments of “Mass mobilization” for Prayers to save Kenya. They paused drinking after they were strongly warned by believers that no prayers will be answered if they are inebriated, an indication that Kenyans have been “doing anything” within their means to help the prayers succeed and get our devastated country back to normal.

Now, after hundreds of hours of prayers spanning over several days, the talks have collapsed in Kenya and ODM has called for mass action on Thursday this week. Annan has threatened to pack his luggage and leave Kenya. More bloodshed is expected, more death and even more destruction of property is imminently on the way.

I have been bombarded with several SMS messages from Steve Khadir, Keegan Kaagwe and other pro-prayer SMSers directing that at 1.30 PM or 5.45 AM, every Kenyan in Stockholm is requested to stop whatever they are doing and “Pray for the Motherland”.

It doesn’t matter whether you are working, eating ugali or doing something else. You just have to warn your employer that at such and such a time you have to pray for your country no matter what! However, we are now faced with a situation where we are going back to December 30th kinda violence in less than 24 hours after we have been waking up and praying endlessly.

A critic may point out that may be, I don’t understand how prayer works or that I don’t believe in prayers and blah blah blah but tell me. What happened because Kenya is facing another period of even deeper uncertainty and the Kenyan population is worried.

Has the God we have been praying in Sweden abandoned our people or is it because Sweden houses the Devil’s bible which sends signals to sabotage prayers? Could the devil have been intercepting prayers through some satanic satellite patched above the North pole before the prayers reach God or what has actually happened to the terrific wave of prayers that have been transmitted through the mouths of many believers in Stockholm?

HOW COMES PAKISTANI PRAYERS WERE ANSWERED?
Have the prayers been “too little”, making God angry with the Kenya-Stockholm wafarisai or have Kenyans been “over-praying” thereby confusing God in a way that the Almighty has been unable to tell exactly what Kenyans want – a new Constitution, Kibaki to step down, a re-run of the vote, an end to violence, an end to blood-letting, an end to ethnic cleansing, return of refugees to their homes, more money to Kenya for humanitarian assistance, a Coalition government, a government of national unity, an end to tribalism or International mediation?

There are many problems around the world and millions of Christians are definitely engaged in deep Prayer to ask god to help. Could it be that there is a long mlolongo of prayers in the Kingdom in a way that “it is not yet time” for Kenya-Stockholm prayers to be answered or is it that those who have been praying have themselves been “too dirty and sinful” for their prayers to be heard by the God of Moses?

Could it be that there is something we don’t know because the election in Pakistan were peaceful even after the assassination of Butto yet in Kenya, Raila or Kibaki was not assassinated yet we had a major blood bath estimated to have killed more than 1500 Kenyans?

Why was there no post election violence in Pakisran? Does God want kitu kidogo and we don’t know or understand or is God still playing hard ball as Kenyans suffer? Should we call for mediation from outer space to link up our prayers or what should we do?

Could it be that Chrsitians have been preaching water and drinking wine thereby offending God and making him unable to intervene in the case of Kenyan prayers which have loudly been brought before him because how comes he answered the prayers of the Pakistanis where Musharaf sits as President after his Party was defeated Kibaki style and yet there was no violence linked to elections? Could the Pakistanis have sacrificed Butto to go and sooth God and should Kenyans sacrifice someone?

Can the leaders of the Kenya-Stockholm Christian community release a statement to explain the gigantic failure of multiple prayers as our country heads back to the road of bloodshed, senseless slaughter of civilians and wanton destruction of property? Back to Wafarisai!

Is Ambassador Purity Operating illegally At The Embassy?

After the dictatorship of Mr. Mwai Kibaki rigged elections last year and secretly installed Kibaki as President, the Swedish government has refused to recognize the Kibaki dictatorship. The Swedes have taken the position adopted by the International community that has maintained that the irregularities witnessed and documented at the tallying level of Presidential results were such that the outcome that was announced by the discredited Electoral Commission of Kenya did not reflect the will and aspirations of the Kenyan people who voted.

Politically, the implication is that Ambassador Purity Muhindi and other diplomatic staff at the Kenyan Embassy in Stockholm may be transacting business at the Embassy illegally thereby committing several crimes that might be punishable under Swedish and International law.

Once a new government has been elected in any country and recognized by the International community, the leadership of such a government (in this case Kenya) is under an obligation to update its diplomatic staff to the Swedish government by either making changes or retaining the old staff members if no changes are necessary. While Kibaki might have done so, the problem is that the Swedish government cannot accept such an update because it does not recognize the Kibaki government. For the Swedes, it is like there is currently no government in Kenya.

Although Purity had already presented her credentials to the King of Sweden when she first arrived in this country and other non odiangabuk Embassy staff members had their appointments registered at the Swedish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Purity cannot represent Kenya in any State function in Sweden because she is representing an illegitimate government that is abhorred by Sweden and the International community on grounds that Kibaki and thieves around him stole the December 2007 elections.

Sweden is one country which was swift in advising its citizens not to travel to Kenya in the wake of the crisis that engulfed the country while the Swedish Ambassador to Kenya has continued to remain active along with other countries whose representatives have underlined the fact that the election issue needs to be sorted out otherwise it won’t be “business as usual”.

The Swedish government has stated publicly that it backs the Annan talks and what this means for Ambassador Purity is that she ought to be staying at home on a daily basis together with key members of her staff to await the outcome of the talks and the position of the Swedish government in relation to the thorny issue of recognition.

ILLEGAL TRANSACTIONS AND MEETINGS
Instead, Purity has been jumping from one diplomatic meeting to another because nobody has alerted her that she is actually committing a crime. If she is not recognized by the Swedish government, another thing that should have happened to her is that she ought to have been recalled by her boss in Nairobi, leaving one or two junior staff members to maintain a low-profile running of the Embassy by dealing with very essential services such as renewal of Passports of Kenyan citizens and other related problems of Kenyans in Scandinavia. What is Lady Purity doing instead?

She is transacting business, while the Embassy is issuing visas to foreign Nationals intending to travel to Kenya, collecting revenue, appearing at diplomatic meetings with SIDA and other agencies and even dictating the deportation to Kenya of ailing supportive staff members for reasons that are still not yet clear.

The reason why KSB is raising this issue is because recently, Purity attended a meeting that was organized by a Swedish government agency and a Swede who was at the meeting reported to KSB that her presence was a big embarrassment because everybody knew that she was not supposed to be at the meeting. The Swedes were shy and nobody could approach her and politely tell her to leave.

We still don’t know whether Purity attended a Lunch session thrown by the wives of Ambassadors in Sweden at the prestigious Kaffe Opra on 11th February to raise cash for victims of post election violence in Kenya. Mary Gwada, a Kenya Gospel singer was performing at the function although KSB failed to cover it because of too much work load related to post election violence. We have not yet followed up the event but we hope that Purity did not attend it because she was not welcome!

About a week ago, Mr. Daniel Kotutt, a top official at the Embassy, called KSB to say that the Embassy was intending to intervene in a case in which an ailing Kenyan woman was facing deportation to Kenya by her employer after the employer discovered that she was sick. Her lungs had collapsed and she had to be rushed to hospital where she was admitted at the ICU.

Kotutt said that he wanted to take the issue with the Swedish Ministry of Foreign Affairs. What he forgot is that the government on whose behalf he wanted to intervene to try and help a Kenyan citizen had not been recognized by the Swedish government and that under the circumstances, the maximum he could do at the Office (since the Kenyan government pays rent) is to read a Newspaper or surf the Internet, not picking the phone to call Swedish State agencies and other authorities.

In fact, the only worker who should be active at the Embassy is the receptionist who should be answering incoming phones and telling callers that the Embassy will remain inactive until the Swedish government recognizes the Kibaki government. “Check the newspapers for an update because the Embassy is not operational”, should be the kinda answers to callers.

This issue needs to be investigated and if it is true that Ambassador Purity and her staff members have been taking illegal contacts on behalf of a bogus government that has not yet been recognized by the Swedish government, then an injunction could be filed in Court to prevent the Ambassador from misleading the world and conducting business in the name of the Kenyan government in Sweden.

This could constitute an interesting angle of the anti-Kibaki struggle which could then be widened to paralyze Kenyan Embassies at a global level through appeals to world governments to close down these Embassies especially if the crisis in Kenya deepens and innocent Kenyans begin to die once again.

Ailing Cook Fired By Ambassador Purity Muhindi

A Kenyan national working for Ambassador Purity Muhindi as a cook has been fired by the Ambassador after he went to hospital and was told that he is suffering from diabetes. According to a source, the male cook, who is in his 50s, was also informed by the Ambassador that he will be travelling back to Kenya next Saturday following termination of his duties at the Ambassador’s residence.

The cook is reported to have paid an unspecified but huge amount of money at the hospital where he had gone for a check-up. It is was not immediately clear why the cook is being deported on Saturday by the Ambassador soon after the discovery that he was sick and needed serious medical treatment.

A possible explanation is that the Ambassador or the Embassy may be avoiding to foot the cook’s medical bills, given that the treatment of diabetes may be a life-long and expensive operation which requires constant medication.

Another explanation could be that the cook was working for the Ambassador outside the Swedish Labour laws which stipulates that workers have medical insurance to shield them financially in cases of illness while ensuring that they get proper medical attention. If he did not have insurance, then either the Ambassador, the cook or the Kenyan government is under an obligation to sort out his medical expenses.

The firing of the cook and the plan by the Ambassador to deport him despite a new diagnosis linked to diabetes demonstrates the brutality of the Ambassador in her handling of ailing Embassy personnel.

Last year, Mr. Cheruiyot, a former Treasurer at the Embassy, was rescued from a dirty plan to hijack him from Karolinska hospital and deport him to Kenya despite the fact that he was bed ridden at the hospital and suffering from a debilitating disease. It took the action of a group of Kenyans who organized and physically stopped the deportation after Embassy staff arrived at the hospital to help pluck Mr. Cheruiyot from his hospital bed to transport him to Arlanda International Airport.

After the story came into the public lime light, the Ambassador dropped the plan as Cheruiyot sought political asylum in Sweden on humanitarian grounds. He is currently receiving treatment as a refugee in Sweden.

Pastor Beatrice Kamau Defends Embassy Woman

The Chairlady of the Voice of Women, Pastor Beatrice Kamau, has defended a Kenyan woman working at the Kenyan Embassy against allegations that she is a “Husband grabber”. Speaking to KSB, Pastor Beatrice said that the blogger who portrayed the woman as “promiscuous” without evidence must have had a dirty agenda to sort out with the her.

“It was wrong and irresponsible for the blogger to have engaged in an attack at such a low level”, the Pastor told KSB. Beatrice said that it is important that Kenyan bloggers understand the consequences of what they publish about Kenyans in Sweden especially if they cannot back up their reports with strong evidence.

This woman was recently widowed and what she needs is compassion, not unsubstantiated attacks”, she said. “All Kenyans of good will should stand up and defend this woman against unwarranted attacks”, she said.

She pointed out that following the death of her husband, the woman was free to engage another man and wondered why the blogger was exposing the woman to public disrepute and infringing on her private life without reasons.

“The blogger had claimed that the woman has been snatching other people’s husbands and what he could have done to give a balanced report is that he could have given the names of husbands who had been grabbed by the woman”, she told KSB.

“The blogger also claimed that three women had ganged up to fight the woman because she wanted to grab their men. My question is: Where have all these women been when the Embassy woman was planning to grab their husbands?”, she posed.

She said that the story is dirty propaganda because it is not logical that a bereaved woman with children could suddenly try and grab three husbands of other women out of the blue.

“The woman is a Christian whose religious belief for those who know her is beyond question. To link her with promiscuity, adultery and other sex scandals is painful, irresponsible and malicious”, she said.

“The woman works at the Kenyan Embassy but there is no reason why someone should mix her work, her religion and her private life to produce a negative picture of her in public without evidence”, she said, adding that the label of “Jezabel” that the blogger gave the woman was a direct psychological attack on the woman, her children and her entire family.

She said that there is a difference between political and personal disagreements. “If the blogger has problems with the Kenyan Embassy or the Kenyan Ambassador (Purity Muhindi), he should face the Institution, not hide behind personal attacks of Embassy employees who are simply doing their work”, she said.

There has been a string of criticisms of the blogger by Kenyans in Sweden who seem very sympathetic to the Embassy woman who is innocently looking for ways to deal with her bereavement.

Mr. Githuku wa Muirani, a Kenyan who is also a close friend of the woman called KSB to say that the attack was in bad taste. Muirani said that he did not understand why his name was being dragged into the story by the blogger. The blogger had claimed that it is Muirani who fixed a job for the woman at the Embassy by approaching big shots in Kenya.

“It is unfortunate that these kind of stories are being circulated at a time when our country is in political crisis and Kenyans in Stockholm are undergoing through a healing process following events in Kenya”, he said.

Mr. Julius Mwandembo, a former diplomat at the Kenyan Embassy who has since returned to Kenya sent an SMS to KSB attacking the blogger for cooking a story that there was a “Jezabel” at the Embassy. He said that it was harsh and uncalled for.

Embassy Woman And Grabbed Husband Should Be Left Alone

I had taken leave on Kenya-Stockholm human interest stories because of the urgency of dealing with the crisis in Kenya. However, my fingers are itching because maneno moto moto yanapita.

I was going through blogs managed by Kenyans in Stockholm when I came across something very interesting. In one blog, a woman who works at the Kenyan Embassy was attacked for stealing husbands of other men while posing as a Christian. The attack on her was very brutal and I really felt sorry for the poor lady. The blogger baptized her “Jezabel” and accused her of taking advantage of her role in the Church as a Counselor of couples whose relationships have hit the rocks to hijack men in the process of providing solutions at times of crisis.

Strangely, the name of Mr. Githuku wa Muirani (not Muirani wa Githuku as reported by the blogger) features as the culprit who helped fix a job for the woman at the Kenyan Embassy. Muirani is said to have travelled all the way to Kenya to meet big shots including Beth Mugo to help the woman acquire employment at the Kenyan Embassy. KSB was the first to feast on the “grabbed hubby story” and the blogger acknowledges this fact by referring to some journalist who raised it but who was allegedly “silenced by critics”. Another name which features in the story is that of Pastor Samson who is introduced as being close to the woman. The woman is described as “beautiful” with further graphics which leave no doubt as to the identity of the woman in question. If you need further direction, the location is Bagarmossen church.

What is interesting in the Kenya-Stockholm Blog round up is that after the Jezabel story hit the Net, another blogger surfaced to attack Kenyans who are attacking others for no reason. The blogger is a well known pro-Kibaki, anti-Raila activist who once reported that he was closing down his blog before changing his mind to say that the blog will be maintained after all. The blogger periodically provides platform for Muirani to spill his anti-ODM venom (although in a modest way) while he believes that KSB is a “War Blog”. It is believed that it is Muiranu who prevailed upon the blogger to maintain the blog because Muirani is believed to have a lot of influence on the blogger.

Although the blogger did not name names in his attack, it was clear that he was addressing the anti-Jezabel forces in Stockholm especially the blogger who had attacked Jezabel. The anger was so enormous that the blogger admitted that he had no better way of expressing it. To widen his circulation, he sent the story to a Kompis Blog (friendly) where his attack was also published. The thinly veiled attack on the Jezabel story was not accidental and this is where the matter becomes even more complicated. The story is so sensitive that you will just have to permit me not to mention names.

This is because the attacker, who went berserk at his blog, is suspected to be one of the men allegedly stolen by Jezabel oki doki…. The only justification as to why he was shouting at the top of his voice and on the roof tops of his blog is that he was trying to defend Jezabel without mentioning names or making direct references. Surely, a good man defends his woman when she is under attack and this was very encouraging.

SECRECY BEHIND RELATIONSHIP RESPONSIBLE FOR HOT GOSSIP IN STOCKHOLM
Kenyans will agree that the blogs, especially KSB (the war monger?), have been very quiet with every blogger trying to hit on the situation in Kenya. The Kenyan Embassy has been experiencing a period of tranquility because of shifted attention and I understand that the Ambassador has been on her knees praying that the crisis in Kenya continues so that she could continue breathing “fresh air” at the Mission. In short, there was no basis for the outburst that was witnessed by the blogger in question before the Jezabel story.

The author of the Jezabel story touched a raw nerve because the story is only whispered in Stockholm. The big issue is that the woman who fell victim to the “Husband snatch” has refused to keep her mouth shut because she feels betrayed by a woman she trusted.

As the blog which broke the story, we can report that the whole process played itself under difficult circumstances because “The beauty” (the name Jezabel is too harsh jameni), was just emerging from a serious bereavement following the sudden and tragic death of her hubby while the guy (young, energetic, ambitious and handsome) was in serious crisis with his rib. They had tried to sort out the crisis but it wasn’t working. Surely, what is wrong if the Embassy beauty saw her chances and grabbed the guy in the middle of a serious crisis that faced the three personalities in the situation?

Let us call a spade a spade. When you lose your husband after a tragic accident, you have a right to re-engage a new dume because (as Chaka Chaka says in her song) “every woman needs a man… to touch her all night long”. If your relationship has hit the rocks, you have a right to look for new options. Why are those who are attacking the Beauty not attacking the woman whose hubby was snatched because she has also found a new muscle to service her. Did she hook up with a virgin, a single dude or snatch the guy from some dysfunctional babe who had made his life difficult?

The problem with the Embassy Beauty and the blogger is that they have been in hiding and behaving as if the whole gossip in Stockholm is just hot air. They don’t want to admit that they are together even though Stockholm’s leading News channels (Norsborg Radio, Channel Nzoro, Channel Muirash, Channel Mwaos, Capital Alby FM, Radio Bagarmossen, Lady FM Nduta, Nancy Breaking News, KSB Underground, Jamii et al) know that they are articulating. It is only Channel Muraya that is saying nothing and this is expected because “Muraya and Company” is controlled by Jesus Karast and only prayers are allowed at the channel. KSB is on overdrive I tell ya!

The secrecy behind the relationship is what makes the connection interesting to the Kenyan public in Stockholm. The fact that the woman works at the Kenyan Embassy is probably the biggest factor why the story’s relevance has refused to go away. Isitoshe, the fact that the blogger is seen as the bull behind the heifer adds juice to the whole love saga.

The reason why the woman’s Christian background is being exploited by critics to attack her for having snatched another woman’s husband is because as per Christian standards, she is expected to admit and come out in public that following the death of her husband, she was free to link up with another man. What this “underground couple” should do is that they should own up and stop living under illusions. By living in denial, they are fuelling negative rumors and hot gossip. Falling in love is not a sin.

ANOTHER WOMAN “WHO WAS GRABBED” IS BACK AND DISTRIBUTING THE GOODS
With the story circulating in the Net, the Beauty is unduly being exposed to a lot of stress because the impression being created by the blog stories is that what she did was wrong. This kind of impression is misplaced because the beauty is not responsible for the crisis between her catch and the woman who lost. She simply found them in the middle of crisis.

Humans have their weaknesses regardless of whether you are President Clinton (remember Lawinsky) or Rev Jesse Jacksson who impregnated a girl and kept the relationship secret even after he continued to support the child. The Embassy beauty should come to terms with the woman she out-maneuvered and make peace because Love is blind. It doesn’t know whether you are a Christian, a blogger or a Church Canceller on marriages in crisis.

Many Kenyan couples have split up but we don’t witness the kind of attention similar to the Embassy Beauty link up. I know of a married Kenyan who temporarily* snatched one of the most beautiful women in Stockholm from her husband but it was no big deal. The two men talked it over and now, they meet to drink freely. This is civilization.

There was tension when the issue exploded at a house Party but the man whose wife was allegedly snatched is mature and he managed to play down the crisis (I don’t know how). Some Kenyans believe that the guy has “many lives” because he has survived too many crisis – romantic, political, social and what have you!

Now, the woman is back and the guy continues to have his share “of the cake” so what is the big deal with the Embassy beauty? The “grabbed woman” was together with her “better half” at both the Muraya wedding and the Mwaura wife reception Party so? The woman served a heap of food for his man at the Mwaura Party and one Mzee (Mzee P) congratulated her for her skills in understanding that the man needs real energy eh!

That was after she was seen arriving at a child’s birthday Party in Hagsätra with the man who allegedly grabbed her and after she appeared at the Beatrice wedding Reception last year with the same man so? The man who grabbed her is himself a “Consultant” when it comes to dealing with women. This is beside the point but imagine this: You marry, kick off your wife after some time, get another wife and in the middle of the honey moon, you grab someone’s wife and appear in a public place with her but still maintain your second wife!! Kenyans in Stockholm should actually clap for this guy for how does he pull that kinda a string?

Back to the Embassy beauty. Wakenya in Stockholm should grow up and abandon pettiness. This woman simply did the right thing. If she was purely responsible for the split up between her catch and the other woman, it could have been a different story. Yes, the couple trusted her and was going for counseling on a routine basis but things changed. Why are critics not blaming the man for being responsible for the total break up?

KENYANS SHOULD LEARN LESSONS FROM THE “EMBASSY BEAUTY HUSBAND GRAB”
Why blame the Embassy woman and capitalize on her Christian profile to project her as an evil woman? I know the woman and I don’t think that she is evil. I also know the man and I don’t think that he is crazy. I don’t know who was the first to fall “during counseling” but the truth is that one of them (probably the man) fell na wakapendana!!

Nelson Mandela had problems with his wife Winnie but married Graca Machel, former wife of the late Samora Machel of Mozambique. Can it be correct to say that Graca grabbed Mandela and should Winnie complain?

I am not holding brief for the Embassy beauty. I am only concerned with the violation of the woman’s right to freedom of choice after the tragic loss of her husband. She never forced the man into anything. What she did is that she displayed a different kinda charm which must have melted the guy’s heart for how on earth did a counseling session turn into “love in the air” complete with overnight sessions that signalled to the other woman yakwamba ni kubaya?

The guy reportedly began spending long evenings at the woman’s Crib as he went for “follow ups” and “analysis” of discussions about the crisis. It was during this period that nobody knows what actually happened. I suspect that they relocated to the bedroom where the whole magic must have been played thereby changing the situation “for ever”.

Instead of attacking the woman, lessons should be learnt out of the situation. If you are a woman, never leave your hubby alone being counseled by another woman (a beautiful one at that) in the middle of a romantic crisis regardless of how much you trust the Counselor. Men should learn the lesson that they are perpetually weak at the hands of women. You get to her for advice in times of a romantic crisis with your own wife and she ends up in your arms? We will never know how it came to this.

What is known is that one day, KSB got a tip that the woman was dating the blogger and that the other woman was not happy. We believe that this couple should now be left alone to chart their own future. The man should also stop hinting at the story at his blog because then, KSB will pick it up and the story will never come to an end. The couple should declare their connection as this will go a long way in normalizing a situation which is fuelling lots of gossip in our small Kenya Stockholm. It has nothing to do with the Beauty’s Christianity. It has more to do with her charms and her holy shrine which appears to have trapped the man and this is perfectly normal. If you ask me, Wacha waseme, usiku watalala – “let them say, at night they will go to sleep”.

Enter Wetangula, The New Toilet Paper

wetangula

At 52, Moses Wetangula cannot be described as an “aging old man”. He is not in the category of Septuagenarians like the Chief thief, Mr. Mwai Kibaki or Rattle Snake John Michuki who is soon turning 77. Wetangula belongs to the “younger generation” of Kenyan Lawyers who left private practice to venture into politics in order to move Kenya forward.

Today, Wetangula has become the “Toilet Paper” of PNU being used to wipe out PNU dirt and everybody knows where toilet papers end. He has not learnt from Musikari Kombo, a fellow tribesman who was brought on board to join PNU toadies in the run up to elections but who now finds himself in the political cold after suffering a defeat at the Constituency level. Kombo was the Chairman of a formidable Party, FORD-Kenya but the last time he opened his mouth, he was complaining about a PNU conspiracy to ensure that he is not nominated back to Parliament after he lost elections.

One could have expected Wetangula to know better. He is heading the prestigious Ministry of Foreign Affairs and because of his legal background, PNU has accorded him the privilege of being part of the Party’s mediation team. The irony is that Wetangula sits on the negotiation table with members of ODM and after they have agreed on issues, he goes out as Foreign Affairs Minister to contradict positions agreed upon at the Annan talks.

The thrust of the talks is based on the need for a political solution but when Wetangula went out to feed the media, his key assertion was that any agreement must be in line with the current Constitution. This is the new song “topping the charts” at PNU headquarters. Don’t worry that the same Wetangula is part of an agreement that the Constitution will have to be amended through Parliament to accommodate provisions in the Peace agreement.

Wetangula has not learnt from history. The late Dr. Robert Ouko was Moi’s Foreign Affairs Minister who used to clean the government’s Human rights mess but this did not prevent Moi from sending him to an early grave when he was perceived as a threat.

If learned and well informed members of PNU like Wetangula and Martha Karua cannot guide the Party’s leadership to understand the complexity of the current crisis in Kenya, then who will do it?

When you sing it to the ears, it could be sweet for PNU supporters to hear the likes of Wetangula blabber that foreigners should not interfere in Kenya’s affairs; no gun should be held on anybody’s head; Kenya is not a colony; the United States is not heaven; Ambassadors are junior officers of their governments; diplomatic etiquette should be respected; Any agreement should be in line with the Constitution; the crisis in Kenya needs a Kenyan solution and other bromides that are increasingly becoming popular within the ranks of PNU apparatchik’s.

The risk now is that through their pallid outbursts, Wetangula and company are sending signals that PNU is not interested in resolving the crisis in Kenya because their agenda is to maintain power after the Party used the state apparatus to rig elections.

If Wetangula’s memory is too short, Raphael Tuju was the other day occupying his current seat. Although he is a trained journalist, Tuju used all kinds of sophistry to defend an indefensible government but today, he is gone after being thrown out by the people. Many journalists held their hands on their mouths in jaw-dropping disbelief when Tuju was brought in to defend acts of corruption by Kibaki’s government.

Kenya is in serious problem and if a person of Wetangula’s caliber cannot drive some sense in the heads of his bosses or give direction to PNU at such a critical time in the history of our country Kenya, then Kenyans should only hope that the situation will have to get worse before it gets better.

Lawyers of repute must today be holding their hands on their mouths at the sight of Wetangula contributing heavily on PNU’s foot-dragging at the talks when the prospect of fresh blood bath and protracted civil war is facing the country if the Annan talks fail.

Wetangula seem to have adopted the “politics of the stomach” and in the process, he has lost his sense of reason and “intellectual responsibility”. He should have been calling for order within the ranks of Kikuyu ruling class bent on destroying the country because of unrealistic power ambitions. Wetangula has entered the scene with fervor but at the end of the day, he might emerge as PNU’s ultimate toilet paper in the middle of a deep crisis that has confounded the Kenyan nation.

Leading Idiots In PNU

michuki the killer karua martha the ruthless kibaki.jpg

As the so called talks with thieves in PNU continues, there are several idiots within the Party who are standing on the way of progress and who needs to be known by all Kenyans interested in moving the country forward. These are: Emilio Mwai Kibaki, Martha Karua, John Michuki, Amoss Kimunya, Alfred Mutua, Moses Wetangula, Mutula Kalonzo, Uhuru Kenyatta, Lucy Kibaki amomg others. In this series, KSB’s takes a look at some of the profiles of these idiots. We begin with Kibaki, Karua and Michuki.

MR EMILIO MWAI KIBAKI (General Kiguoya): Key conspirator of rigged elections who allowed himself to be illegally and secretly installed as President of Kenya without the National anthem being played and after the Kenyan flag was lowered for the evening. The traditional Diplomatic corpse was missing from the function which was attended by his own personal friends, family members and leading sycophants and organized less than an hour after elections were rigged. Even losers like Musikari Kombo are reported to have attended the bogus function. Although he calls himself President, he has never been handed over the symbolic “Sword of Power”. As a Septuagenarian, Kibaki is senile and mostly sleeps at State House as his wife Lucy gives commands and slaps perceived opponents along the corridors of State House. Slapping people is part of her hobby. She recently ordered that human rights activists in Kenya be investigated while she is reported to have shot her son after the son reprtedly told Kibaki to step down.

Although he believes he “leads” Kenya, he cannot make a coherent sentence during an off the cuff discussion. He simply mumbles and when the South African Arch Bishop Desmond Tutu came to Kenya to try and resolve the crisis, he had to sneak back to South Africa to relax after he talked to Kibaki because he noticed that the mind of the so called President “had gone”. In other words, there was nothing to discuss with Kibaki and Tutu reportedly wondered how Kibaki had managed to finish his first term in Office.

In short, Kibaki is seriously sick with high blood pressure, diabetes, liver cirrhosis and a chronic heart problem. Even at the time he took over power after the December 2002 elections, Kibaki was still “on the bottle” and as concerns grew about the President’s state of alcoholism, Kibaki rushed to the media to announce that he had become a Tee-taller. This public announcement confirmed that Kibaki had been on the bottle all through, a habit that left him with a damaged liver. He drinks whisky although when he came to Stockholm just before the 1997 elections, he was drinking “Pripps Blå”, a popular beer. A Kenyan exile who hosted him and who was heading the Scandinavian branch of the Democratic Party at that time returned to Kenya after the 2002 elections but failed to meet Kibaki because Kibaki is basically under very tight control. Kenyans in Stockholm know the story.

Back to Kibaki’s health: The old man has suffered mild stroke at least twice since he took power in 2002 while he has serious difficulties in walking. If you saw him limping towards the Chief justice on 30th December to take the bible for the fake swearing in ceremony, you might have noticed that abnormal and shocking gait. The accident he suffered before the 2002 election left him with a broken leg, a broken arm and an assortment of other injuries that have drastically reduced his health and left him in a position of serious weakness.

If you didn’t know, Kibaki has to read prepared Statements and, as a rule, he never meets the media because both his handlers and cronies know his capacity to mess up whenever he opens his mouth after reading a speech. When he reads a prepared Statement, it is known that his handlers usually panic at the prospect of him veering from the speech to spit embarrassing rubbish that exposes him as unfit to govern and open his character to ridicule. Since December 27th, Kibaki is one of the key idiots who have held Kenya hostage with a stolen election.

If a honest analysis were to be made, it would be safe to advance the view that Kibaki should be enjoying his pension instead of allowing himself to undergo the stress of accusations that he rigged elections. In fact, a new Movement is needed in Kenya to question when Kibaki will enjoy his pension because he is too old to lead a country in which 65 percent of the voters are young people who were born after the so called independence. This are some moments when you can wish that nature intervenes but do I say?

Someone who has been the Vice president of a ruthless Dictator for 10 years and managed to get honored with the country’s Presidency for another 5 years still steals an election to rule for another 5 odd years! A practical joker said that Kenya is unique but these are the kind of uniqueness the country can do without. If wishes were Pajeros, I would wish that Kibaki return to Othaya to retire. That would be a faire deal that would surely leave Kenya in peace! Kibaki is known as General Kiguoya (General coward). Is Kibaki afraid of going into retirement?

MARTHA KARUA (Iron Lady): Is PNU’s “Devil incarnate” in the “politically raped” Kenya and Wananchi have now began to wonder where she came from and how she entered politics. She plays the “Iron Lady” in PNU, is arrogant, assumes hard line positions, is uncompromising and blatantly unrealistic in the face of a calamitous tragedy that precipitated election rigging by PNU thieves. Martha is the “Public face” of both PNU and Kibaki’s illegal Presidency.

Since geezer Kibaki cannot take up the media because of his incoherency, it is Martha who is usually pushed forward to take up the “heavy questions”.  With the advantage of a legal background and rank as the “Minister of Justice” in Kibaki’s illegitimate government, she is known to take advantage of anti-imperialist rhetoric to scare Western powers whom, she believes, are meddling in the affairs of Kenya.  In State House, it is rumored that Martha once said that PNU will tell the so called Western powers that PNU might have to go the Mugabe way if Wazungu could not understand that a Kahe cannot be allowed to rule Kenya.

When she appeared on BBC Hard Talk program soon after elections were rigged, Martha admitted that she was one of the people who went to pick up the “Presidential certificate” of victory from Kenyatta International Conference Centre, an admission that she was in the “Thick of things” in Kenya election rigging strategy. It is therefore not surprising that she is in the front lines in defending the fake Kibaki Presidency.

The problem now is that she doesn’t understand that PNU will never rule Kenya unilaterally as had been planned because the issue of election rigging will not go away. The protests will not go away if the issue is not settled even in the face of public executions in the streets by police. According to an Editorial in the Nation (19/02/08), a Civil war is waiting on the door if the Annan talks collapse but this is a prospect that does not matter for Karua because of trappings of power.

Lady Martha has repeatedly said that Kibaki won elections and that ODM should go to court to resolve the crisis thereby exposing her lack of understanding in relation to the magnitude of the crisis in Kenya which cannot be resolved unilaterally by either PNU of ODM.

It took the Annan’s team to drive the point home – that Kenya needed a political and not a legal solution. Imagine the kind of justice you would expect in a court packed with Kibaki’s cronies promoted to their positions only two days before elections. That is after the Chief Justice has already sworn in the “President” in a fake ceremony at State House! Back to Karua.

Despite her education in Law, she has refused to recognize the fact that PNU rigged elections thus in the eyes of Kenyans who believe that elections were stolen, Martha emerges as a dirty and deceptive crook who should be expunged from the Ministry of Justice as a matter of urgency and National interest.

JOHN MICHUKI (The Rattle Snake): We should not be talking about this guy because he is the murkiest of them all. With a history of castrating the Mau Mau fighters during the colonial revolution, Michuki is a ruthless tyrant who is believed to be the “Shadow President” currently ruling Kenya through the back door. As a District Officer during the Colonial administration, Michuki learnt the skills of ruthlessness through eye witness accounts on how the colonial administration was dealing with the Mau Mau.

Although he is a Kikuyu himself, his role in castrating the Mau Mau fighters is a pointer that he is ready to do anything to get his way. After the illegal installation of Kibaki as President, it is Michuki who masterminded a ban on live broadcasts by the media while it is him who sent police and GSU to “shoot to kill” ODM youth who were protesting in the streets.

In Kisumu alone, his orders resulted in the execution of over 80 Kenyans with one execution having been captured on video. When it comes to who is who in the “Catalogue of corruption in Kenya”, Michuki is one of the people who tops the list. It is not therefore surprising that he is the “Shadow President”.

In his small brain, Michuki’s working philosophy is that members of the Kikuyu ethnic group “owns Kenya” because they fought the British through the Mau Mau (whose members he castrated), that Kikuyus form the economic back-bone of Kenya’s economy and that by virtue of being the largest ethnic group in Kenya, the leadership of Kenya was bestowed on Wakikuyu by Mumbi, the God of the Agikuyu.

This is the philosophy which drives his thinking and the thinking of others he has managed to indoctrinate. The whole history of Michuki cannot be narrated here. What can be added is that if Kibaki is General Kiguoya and Karua the “Iron Lady”, Michuki is the “Rattle snake” of PNU who has openly promised to bite if he is rattled. Even if it means importing mercenaries to do the dirty work, Michuki will do it.

He is suspected of having been responsible for the raid on the Standard newspaper before elections, an operation in which the Newspaper’s offices was attacked and newspapers destined for circulation set on fire in what became known as the “Raid on the Standard”.

Luckily, the raid was captured on security cameras. Kenya is in trouble because Michuki is in charge of strategy based on a hard line position that might not allow for a lot of compromises. Michuki is worried that in case PNU gives in, they will have to answer for crimes against the Kenyan people.

If there is anybody who will be held responsible for police killings in Kisumu, it is difficult to imagine how Michuki will escape the loop and this is yet another reason that might be driving PNU thieves to continue with irrelevant tough talk when the country has been held hostage after election rigging. Where will Michuki run to when the real hammer of justice eventually falls? If Michuki still had senses, he could have been negotiating his own future after committing crimes against the Kenyan people, not standing on the way of a resolution to the crisis.

Recently, Michuki was admitted to Nairobi hospital after he was allegedly poisoned. Could his alleged poisoning have been the work of a good Samaritan seeking to save Kenya for slipping further into crisis or was it another pure accident? Just like Kibaki, Michuki has outlived his usefulness in Kenyan politics and he needs to enter into retirement, not pulling strings of power after a rigged election.

Ailing Kenyan Woman Deported

A Kenyan woman who was admitted at Huddinge Hospital after her lungs collapsed has been deported to Kenya. A source close to the woman told KSB that the woman was deported soon after her health condition improved last week.

At the time of her deportation, the woman was working for a Swedish couple as an Au Pair. The couple, which was working for the Swedish Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Kenya, arranged for her trip to Sweden after their tour of duty ended. In Kenya, the woman was working for the couple as a House maid.

Attempts by the Kenyan Embassy to intervene in the case were fruitless as the woman disappeared from Hospital soon after her situation was made public by KSB. Her situation reflects that of many immigrant workers in Sweden who face slavish working conditions because of their status as “undocumented” immigrants. The swedish couple had detained the woman’s Passport prior to her deportation.

How Long Are Kenyans Ready To Wait For A Solution?

According to the East African Standard of Monday February 18th, 37 Mungiki suspects were caught red handed in the middle of an oath in Nairobi. According to the Report, the Mungiki terror gang was to be transported to Rift Valley by un-named people to engage in acts of murder as a solution is sought to the political crisis in Kenya. The paper estimated that 200 members of the gang who may have also taken the oath may have fled because police were too few to arrest them.

Obviously, it would be fool-hardy to think that members of Mungiki, who said that they had been transported from Muranga and Maragua, were in Nairobi taking oaths to support ODM.  The capture of the youths is yet another confirmation that PNU bosses and their supporters are scheming for more violence because they might have reached a decision that they will never accept a deal that involves power sharing with ODM as has been proposed by Kofi Annan and his team.

If you listen carefully to repeated and elaborate rants by Moses Wetangula, one of the newly acquired and most aggressive PNU lapdogs, you get the impression that the rehearsed position within PNU inner circle is that the talks can continue but at the end of the day, it is PNU which will decide how to deal with the crisis.

ODM is in the rare situation of negotiating with a thief which has stolen a trophy, got caught in broad day light before being cornered to return the trophy. The oath taking by fresh Mungiki goons, the resistance of PNU to power sharing in the absence of a better alternative and the strong language of PNU hard liners should point to a “No deal” unless something dramatic happens.

In their recalcitrance, PNU is forgetting two issues – that ODM leadership has to deliver a deal that is not just acceptable to millions of Kenyans who voted for change but which also addresses the crisis in a convincing way. If this does not happen, ODM risks becoming irrelevant in the political situation while the future will remain rife with possible and new conflicts if the main issues are not sorted out now.

Secondly, the PNU strategy of “Rig elections, pour GSU in the streets to kill people and ask opponents to go to court” is dead. For PNU tacticians, this crisis was supposed to take three days or, at most, one week while the possibility of International mediation to resolve the crisis never appeared in PNU’s survival kit. Now that International attention is focused on Kenya, the best PNU hardliners could have done was to acknowledge the reality and respond proportionately. This is not happening because PNU wants to retain power “By all means” after rigging elections.

It is still too early to make further comments on the solution because the details have not yet been worked out. However, indications are that PNU will try to resist as much as possible to ensure that any deal leaves them with considerable control of both the State and the government. Since ODM will not accept such an arrangement (unless the leadership wants to carry the tag of betrayers like Kalonzo Musyoka), it is likely that a solution could still be far. The question is how long Kenyans will be able to wait as PNU dilly-dallies.

The Koffi Anna Agreement So Far

We have just returned from 48 hours of intense and fruitful negotiations at a secret location outside of Nairobi, which all of you now know was the Kilaguni Lodge in the Tsavo West Game Reserve.

I want to thank you for letting us work there in peace, even after you discovered where we were. The parties worked well together during their two days at Kilaguni — often in mixed groups and by themselves — showing their strong commitment to peace and reconciliation in Kenya. They reached agreement on a range of issues, and narrowed considerably the options for a governance structure.

Some of the points of agreement are:

-The creation of an Independent Review Committee.
-This Committee would be mandated to investigate all aspects of the 2007 Presidential Election and make findings and recommendations to improve the electoral process.
-The Committee will be a non-judicial body made up of Kenyan and non-Kenyan recognised electoral experts of the highest professional standing and personal integrity.
-The Committee will submit its report within three-six months and it should be published within 14 days of submission. It should start its work not later than 15 March, 2008.
-The findings of the Independent Review Committee must be factored into the comprehensive electoral reforms that are envisaged.
-Through the discussion, it became apparent that there is no viable way, either by re-count, re-tally or any other measure, to determine the outcome of the 2007 election in a way that would be expeditious and that would not further divide Kenyan society.

However, the facts have to come out and Kenyans have to know what happened. We agreed that the system must be reformed so that such a crisis never happens again.

The Independent Review Committee will allow for this to take place in an environment of tranquillity and transparency, thus contributing to further healing and reconciliation of the country.

We did consider the options of a re-count or re-tally and concluded that:
 A delay of the several months needed for a recount could significantly increase existing tensions and delay resolution of the current crisis, and we recognise that the result of a re-count might not further Kenyan unity.

A re-tally could not determine the correct result in stations or constituencies where problems or irregularities were identified.

On the need for a political settlement to resolve the current crisis, we agreed on the following:

-Recognising that there is a serious crisis in the country we concluded that a political settlement is a necessary and effective way to promote national reconciliation and unity.

-We also agree that such a political settlement must be one that reconciles and heals the nation and reflects the best interests of all Kenyans. A political settlement is necessary to manage and implement expeditiously a broad reform agenda and other mechanisms that will address the root causes of the crisis and deepen and broaden Kenyan democratic foundations.

Such reforms and mechanisms will comprise, but are not limited to, the following:
Comprehensive Constitutional reforms;

-Comprehensive electoral reform — including the electoral laws, the electoral commission and dispute resolution mechanisms;
-A truth, justice and reconciliation commission;
Identification and prosecution of perpetrators of violence;
-Respect for human rights;
-Parliamentary reform;
-Police reform;
-Legal and Judicial reforms;
-Commitment to a shared national agenda in Parliament for these reforms;
-Other legislative, structural, political and economic reforms as needed.

On the issue of governance arrangements, the parties discussed the matter intensively and have developed a number of options, on which they have agreed to consult their principals and leadership and come back to continue negotiations on Monday, with the hope that a final conclusion will be reached shortly after that.

This is the only outstanding issue on Agenda Item 3 — How to Resolve the Political Crisis.
In summary, we have defined the reform agenda for a new government and are now discussing the “how” and the mechanisms required for implementation.

While we are making considerable progress on Agenda Item 3, we have also agreed that settlement of the issues in Agenda Item 4 — Long-Term Issues and Solutions — are fundamental to a viable long-term solution of the crisis.

The implementation of the following reforms should commence urgently in concert with reforms of Agenda Item 3.

-Consolidating national cohesion and unity;
Land reform;
-Tackling poverty and inequity, as well as combating regional development imbalances, particularly promoting equal access to opportunity;
-Tackling unemployment, particularly among the youth;
Reform of the Public Service;
-Strengthening of anti-corruption laws and public accountability mechanisms;
Reform of Public Finance and Revenue Management Systems and Institutions;
-Addressing issues of accountability and transparency.
-The parties agreed that this settlement is not about the sharing of political positions but about addressing the fundamental root causes of recurrent conflict. Therefore, the parties have reaffirmed their commitment to address the issues within Agenda Item 4 quickly and comprehensively.

Reform agenda

Milestones and benchmarks for the implementation of the reform agenda will be defined in our continuing discussions.

I know that many of you have been eager to write the headline, “We have a deal” on all the political issues. But I again advise patience. The issues are complex; reaching compromise is difficult. But let me assure you that there is real momentum. We are at the water’s edge and the last difficult and frightening step will be taken. I am confident that, in the interests of Kenya and its people, the parties will show the wisdom, flexibility and foresight to conclude an agreement.

Strange Stories Circulating In Stockholm

There have been many enquiries by KSB readers as to what happened to a Kenyan who was facing assault and rape charges in a Swedish court. We have to admit that soon after elections were rigged in Kenya by Mr. Mwai Kibaki and his gang of thieves, Kenya-Stockholm News took a back seat as KSB got into full gear to reflect on what was happening in Kenya.

The Kenyan in question was jailed for three years. The latest is that he has appealed against the sentence and Appeal hearing is coming in March. For heaven’s sake, this Kenyan was never deported and, according to the verdict, he will not be deported unless the situation changes at the appeal.

Other news updates which could not be published regards the departure of Mr. George Kinyua from Kenya Embassy. KSB had a full coverage of the event which took place on December 22nd. Mr. Kinyua left for his new posting in Canada on December 27th. A video clip about the event will be posted at KSB for the record. Some propaganists have filled their channels with tales that the Kinyua story never saw the light at KSB because of my hatred of both Kinyua and the Kenyan Embassy where he worked. The truth is that I met Mr. Kinyua hours before he left for Canada and even gave him a DVD copy of the video footage of his farewell reception at Bagarmossen.

Some Kenyans have also been asking about a Laptop which was supposed to be given to the Kinyuas as a present using cash that was donated by friends and well-wishers at the function. News about the Laptop was received by KSB but election crisis cut it short. We can assure Kenyans who contributed that their money “was not eaten” and that we have evidence that the Laptop was purchased and handed over to the family. Mr. Jamlik Muritu was in charge and I have personally spoken to him about the present. Jamlik is a Christian and it is unthinkable that he could have “eaten the money” for the Laptop. Jamlik’s enemies should therefore shut up.

The Phylis Memorial Children’s Home managed by Mrs Jacinter Njoroge could have been in the news at KSB long time in December. A picture slide about the Home should have been posted at KSB together with some video clips were it not for the more urgent election news. Jacinter must be very angry with KSB because of failure to feature the Home as had been promised. However, this is not the strange part.

I don’t know how a PNU sympathiser got news that some info about the Home had not been published at KSB because this crook has been going round telling Wakenya that the Phylis story was blacked out at KSB because Kibaki (who belongs to Jacinter’s Kikuyu ethnic group) stole elections from Raila Odinga, a Luo whose tribesman also runs KSB. This is just crazy because such talk does not promote unity within the Kenyan community. It promotes tribalism and the small brain spreading this uwongo should get something better to do.

Then, there was the UHCK fund raising which was poorly attended and which, according to Mr. Joseph Munene, was attended by members of “one ethnic group”. A KSB agent who was at the function said that majority of those who attended were from the Kikuyu ethnic group. Munene was later taken to task by Chebet Keter who wondered why Munene was referring to the attendees with their ethnic groups instead of using the term “few Kenyans”.

The strange part or beef about the harambee is that a close friend of mine informed me that he wouldn’t be able to attend the harambee but that he would send in 400 kr. He requested me to pass this message to the UHCK leadership which I did. I personally called Mr. Githuku wa Muirani, the Chairperson of UHCK, and delivered the good news. But, according to agents, this humble message was quickly converted into negative propaganda.

Moredek was not attending the harambee and the Movement released a Statement to this effect. At the UHCK event, word was being spread by anti-Osewe activists in UHCK that I had personally influenced Luos not to attend the harambee but then “went behind the Luos” to donate 400 kr – Holy smoke. In their tribal brains, those who manufactured this lie and who were poisoning the minds of other innocent Wakenya believe that Moredek is a “Luo organization” even though it’s myself and Beryl Otumba (Luos) who sit in its leadership of 13 people. A KSB agent reported that the matter had been deliberately twisted by tribalists who view KSB as an “Anti-Kibaki” blog. Is this the way to go after election rigging in Kenya? I could only hope that Mr. Muirani, whom I gave the message, will do his best to clarify the matter to UHCK membership.

Then there is the worst part of it. A well known Kibaki synpathiser declared at a meeting with Kikuyu friends that he was “a tribalist” regardless of what others thought about his declaration. According to a KSB agent who was at the gathering, the guy said that events in Kenya have proved that tribalism exists and that it was high time people took a stand. Others reacted that there was no need of the guy making the declaration because “people have always known” that he is a tribalist. The good news is that fellow Kikuyus who were at the gathering were not happy. Now, how could things have come to this?

I also don’t know what someone told “Mama KK” about a story that appeared at KSB last year because she is very upset with me. She believes that I created a story about her son then published it at KSB although it is the son who called me and asked me to help him by publishing the story. The son is one of my best friends and we exchange mail all the time. When I phoned him to investigate what was going on, he said that some people had not told her mother the truth. But I spare that bit for another time. Kenya Stockholm is abuzz with strange stories!
