Grand Nyama Choma Festival Was A Big Success
The long awaited 2007 ”Kenya Grand Nyama Choma Festival” (10th Edition) is finally over and Wakenya could as well begin looking out for something new before the Summer season comes to an end. As had been publicized, action began at Fittja Beach and ended at Norsborg Musikhuset where Party lovers remained until the better part of Sunday morning.
At Fittja Beach, the general standard was “up to date” and the Kenya Newtork led by Sound of Blackness which organized the event deserves congratulations. Upon arrival, nyama choma was ready and after payment, you just began chewing directly. The Nyama came with a scoop of Kachumbari and a sizable package of Ugali carefully wrapped with an aluminum foil. This was new because in previous nyamchoms, the ugali had to be cut from a huge mound before being served. Packing it in advance saved much valuable time. It total, 100 kg of meat was consumed and those who attended appeared to have been enjoying every moment of the action.
Children had a bonus – thanks to Albert Taabu and company who staged a fantastic performance. Once again, Albert proved his powers when it came to entertaining the kids while his ensemble confirmed the presence of Kenyan talent in the Kenya-Stockholm music industry.
The songs were themselves nostalgic. Numbers like “Tandarobo”, “Napereka barua kwa baba”, “Hapa je kuna mwiba” and “Embeumbe mbeumbe” were typical and reminded Kenyan parents of their childhood days. The recreation of the tunes backed by drums in the background was so real that some admirers could not help being absorbed into the whole chorus. Some started swinging to the beats as the kids were led into rhythmic motions by the teacher.
As the show advanced, the artists began to provoke the crowd into jumping on the dance. This was after the kids were done. Taabu, the lead vocalist, called out the names of Wakenya one by one, prodding them skillfully so that they could come and show their styles. The crowd had already been warmed up into how it’s done by the artists themselves who stepped forward to gyrate on the grass, much to the amusement of the thrilled crowd.
From the crowd, John Nyangau broke the ice by jumping on stage and showing the way. Johnny (as he is known) was followed by Marky who responded after he was challenged to show the crowd what he could do.
Within a few minutes, the crowd had been intoxicated with the flow of events. An impromptu stage show (which looked very professional) materialized on the stage thereby increasing the excitement to new and higher levels. The stage show was led by Marky, Clay, Sundy, Bryan (one of the artists) and Johny. Within seconds, Steve jumped on stage to give it a boost. It was fun.
Apart from the children’s songs, the music crew had some numbers based on the zilizopendwa collection. These included “Embe dodo”, “mama kifagio”, “Sijaiona Pilipili na maua yake” among others. The group had composed a special song for “Nyama choma” which reminded everybody about the day’s agenda.
THE “LOCOMOTAIVE DANCE TRAIN” AND THE HOT SEAT IN THE MIDDLE
The crowd was diverse – Ugandans, Kenyans, Tanzanians, Swedes, Nigerians, Gambians, Zaireans, Ghanaians just to mention but a few. Nian, a Gambian who has been attending the event for many years, said that the level of organization of Wakenya especially at the social front shows the way and that the event could be turned into an annual continental Festival organized at the grass roots by Africans. He called for closer co-ordination between Africans in Sweden. John Ekwepu, a Nigerian, told KSB that he can never imagine such a function being organized by Nigerians because they were “divided”.
All in all, it was a mixed up crowd of about 150 people who converged at the beach. Some knew about the Festival because of previous actions while others have relationships with Wakenya who tipped them. As darkness became even more pronounced, people appeared not to have been in a hurry to leave and they had to be literally pulled from the venue to go to Norsborg.
Once the Kenyan artists were done, new action followed. The DJ began to work up the crowd with calculated beats known to stimulate dancers into forming a “locomotive dance train” which then proceeds to move in a huge circle to the beats of the music. A major attraction of this formation is that it’s always characterized by “acts of obscenities” at the center.
A chair is normally pulled into the middle where a man or a woman sits then a member of the opposite emerges to begin performing incredible “sexual maneuvers” on whoever is sitting on the chair as the music blares from the huge speakers with revelers cheering the “couple” until they give room to another couple.
Although the moves do not usually include stripping down of clothes, bras, pants and fixing of emergency condoms, the moves usually leave no doubt in the imagination as to what is up. Sometimes, it’s “woman to woman”. At one point, the situation deteriorated so much that you could think that the couple had already heated up and “preparing to launch” with clothes on.
A boy toddler who appeared not to have understood what was happening suddenly moved at the center and sat on the hot chair thereby creating a huge crisis for a few minutes. The amused revelers held their hands on their mouths while others giggled uncontrollably. The boy appeared to have been waiting for an “opposite” to begin “performance” but this never happened.
Luckily, the Dad happened to have been one of the “wagons” on the dance train and when he saw his little one settle on the hot seat, he quickly dashed forward (with lightning speed) and carried his innocent boy away with the whole seat before any other toddler could think about jumping on him “to show how”. It was very funny and some revelers had to take a break to laugh out the joke. The seat was later restored for action to continue but the message had been sent – that kids do as you do, not as you say.
VIDEO CLIPS AT YOUTUBE AND HOW TO DEAL WITH THIS NEW REALITY
A nice beautiful lady who had gone on the ground “to be done from behind” by another cutie who was playing the man rushed to me in a state of panic after the action was over. Someone tipped her that KSB was filming and that she would soon hit “Youtube”. This kinda approach happens from time to time.
I told her to relax because the idea behind posting videos at Youtube is not to put those in action in “awkward situations” with friends and relatives but to report the event in a context that does not hurt the feelings or personality of anybody.
KSB has become part of the Kenyan community in Stockholm and we are open to discussion when it comes to exposure in the Internet. A polite approach at a public function is normally very helpful because we don’t take orders when it comes to news gathered at public events.
The problem is that Wakenya are not yet used to “the media being around” and we are working hard to put Wakenya comfortable. If you don’t want your picture/video clip in the Net, we are not rigid. Make an approach because KSB should be building, not destroying members of the tiny Kenyan community in Stockholm by publishing scandalous pictures and video clips in the Internet. This rule applies as long as we are not at war because our policy at times of war is to “try and destroy the enemy”. Let us build KSB as a “People’s media”
In the previous Nyama choma Festivals, music at Fittja Beach has always closed down at around 21 hrs so that by 22 hrs, the field is usually deserted after people swing to Norsborg.
This time round, the speakers were still blaring some minutes to mid-night and, from the mood of revelers, the disco could have as well been held at the venue without much ado. The delay at Fittja ground meant that the disco at Norsborg Musikhuset had to start well after 1.30 because the crew started dismantling equipment late, probably because DJ Safi who was in the engine room, was responding to the crowd.
By the time the Party crazy crowd arrived at Musikhuset, over 100 revelers were already on the ground waiting for the night action. Fortunately, there was some light music at the hall which kept the “music-thirsty” Wakenya awake although the sound was low. Drinks were being served and people appeared comfortable.
It did not take long before the real disco and the shaking of flesh began. Some girls who were apparently well wrapped (90% of flesh covered) suddenly changed gears at Norsborg. They had carried the “Disco attire” and after arrival at Norsborg, what was needed was a quick visit to the toilet for a “change of clothes”.
As more Kenyan discos are organized, it becomes clearer that Kenyan girls are moving from “bad to worse” when it comes to body exposure. We have discussed this subject before and we will spare readers from the details for now.
WHAT NEXT AFTER NYAMA CHOMA?
It was one of the “most packed discos” ever in Stockholm since the beginning of the year. Kenyans from all walks of life were there with a few big names missing. The occasion was graced with the presence of two Kenyan artists – Rapper Billy Boy and artist St James, sensations in Kenya – Stockholm Entertainment. Sometime, St James can really be sophisticated while at times, he is very simple. It is ordinary for him to be dropped and picked up in a top of the range Benz but yesterday, he even took the tube from Fittja station to Norsborg as he chatted with Wakenya.
Initially, the organizers said that underage kids wouldn’t be allowed into the hall after 22 hrs. But, when the disco began well past 1.00 hrs, some under age kids linked to top organizers could be seen wriggling their bodies on the dance floor.
Some parents who packed their kids on time for home trip came to KSB to complain as to why some kids had to be sent home while others were dancing with adults well passed 22 hrs.
“You wrote that by 22 hrs, all kids would be sent home so what is going on”, an irritated parent confronted KSB.
The problem was that some parents had to send their kids home (14-17 yrs) to beat the requirement and when they noticed that some under 14s were on the dance floor, they began to raise concerns as to whether there was discrimination when it came to the question as to whose kid could remain behind. What fuelled the fire was that one of the young girls (under 10) who was shaking it on the floor had her Mom doing her thing just a few meters at the corner so there was no argument that the paroz were unaware.
KSB confronted the management with the complaint and it was later sorted out. The kids were packed into a car and driven home. Another disappointment was that there was no ready transport both from the field at Fittja and from Norsborg as had been promised. Many Wakenya who had banked on the promise did not make serious transport arrangements for their loved ones and they had to embark on “emergency measures” to cope with the situation. This was a minus.
By 5.00 hrs, the situation at the disco had changed. It was taken over by the youth who emerged from a disco at Albyskolan who moved to colonize the floor. The “backward hook”, kuma dance, chest to chest squeeze (C2C) and other sophisticated styles soon became ordinary at the dance floor. Clothes, bags and other merchandize were heaped on the floor (forming a small mountain) and surrounded by their owners as they danced away the morning.
In summery, the Nyama choma Festival was a huge success and the organizers should be happy with the result. The question now is “What next after Nyama Choma 2007?”

Kenyan Pastor Coming To St Klara Church This Sunday
A Kenyan preacher is scheduled to deliver a summon at St klara Church this Sunday 29th July from 14.00. St Klara Church has an East African congregation which prays in Swahili led by Pastor Beatrice Kamau and Pastor Overa Sjöberg.
Kenyan preachers rarely come to Sweden to preach and news about the Kenyan connection is likely to pull even Wakenya who never go to Church. Pastor Beatrice told KSB that everybody was welcome to the service to listen to the Pastor. She said that the identity of the Pastor will be known on Sunday by those who are interested. Swahili hymns are expected to dominate the service.

Plans For Grand Kenya Nyama Choma Complete
Plans for “The 10th Grand Kenya Nyama Choma Festival” scheduled for Saturday July 28th are complete. According to a Report obtained from the organizers, a package of activities are planned to keep Wakenya and friends busy the whole day. The event starts at 12 noon before a dispersal to Norsborg later in the evening where an all night disco engineered by the “Sound of Blackness” will be awaiting fun lovers. From details obtained by KSB, the day is expected to be packed with action.
For parents with little children, the major attraction will be children’s activities led by Mr. Albert Taabu, a Kenyan music artist who has been engaging the kids in past Nyama Chomas. The kids will be taken through various Kenyan-oriented children’s games at the field with typical songs that, in the past, have reminded adult Wakenya of their childhood days. Songs like “Napeleka barua kwa mama ikanipotelea nyumbani”, Kalongolongo games and other attractions are expected to be on the line up.
Albert will himself play drums together with other traditional dancers from Kenya with lots of Kenyan talent expected to be on display. Playing drums is Albert’s main artistic arena and his beats are expected to spice up the occasion as people take a bite of the famed Nyama choma.
Apart from entertainment by the Albert crew, there will also be music blaring from speakers, just like in the past days. Weather permitting, volley ball and other outdoor games (kid’s football) are also on the Program and Wakenya (especially the youth) are expected to fight it out with competitors from other countries.
There will be maximum security both at the Beach and at Norsborg. Nyake will cost 100 kr per head and this will give fun lovers an opportunity to fill up their tummies endlessly with Nyama choma until the whole crew begins to move to Norsborg where the Choma will continue (depending on the meat balance) in preparation for the all night disco.
Tickets will be issued for the Nyake consumption so everybody is expected to keep the ticket throughout the swallowing process. As an extra precaution, those who have paid up will have some kinda stamp at some strategic location on their arms but it will still be good idea to keep the ticket. The point is that the ticket will still be valid once activities move to Norsborg and, if you lose your stamp, it will be the only evidence that you’ve paid up your trip to the day’s Entertainment.
Tusker will be available to bring down the real Kenyan mood although other vinywanji will also be served. Children will be treated to free food (sausages + drinks at the minimum). Adults are not expected to take advantage to fill up on behalf of the kids. Some Wakenya can be really crazy. They don’t pay for Nyake, they send the kids for sausages then they swallow. Don’t even think about it!
At 22hrs, children will be evacuated from the disco hall so that they can return home and relax after a long day. Nobody without an ID will be allowed in the hall after 22hrs. Parents who want to remain behind will first have to take care of their kids because there will be no child minders.
There will be transport from the field to Norsborg (with donations for Ngata of cause) while at Norsborg, the transport situation will be the same.
In case the weather becomes rude and the ground becomes wet, there will be tents to take care of any drizzles. There is a “Plan B” in case the weather turns ugly, making it impossible for an out door thing to take place.
The whole event will be moved to Norsborg where Nyama will be chomad in tents and consumed indoors or under available sheds at Norsborg. This is the worst case scenario. If this is to happen, an SMS will be sent while info will also be posted at KSB to that effect so keep KSB as your homepage and your mobile fully charged. In case you are not in the SMS Network, get hooked so that you don’t miss anything. Call the Makozewe Network.
The Grand Nyama Choma was started in 1998 by the Kenya United Welfare Association (KUWA) which organized the event up to the year 2003. Since 1998, not a single year has passed without the event being organized. It is the peak-point when Wakenya and friends meet in Stockholm during Summer.
This year round, the Festival is being organized by a Network of Wakenya with Sound of Blackness playing a key role. The group will be the main DJ Crew at the hall in Norsborg. Albert Taabu and Crew are taking up Entertainment especially in the field at Fittja beach while Steve Khadir is helping with logistics especially on the question of Transport. KSB is in charge of Publicity & Propaganda. Hot Lines available for information are: 0704193053 and 0732167090. Info can also be found at: soundofblackness.com and at KSB. Check for latest updates.

KSB Threatened Over ”Sexual Exploitation” Story
A white Swedish man has threatened KSB over a story published at the blog regarding “Sexual exploitation” of Kenyan women. The man phoned on Saturday July 21st and demanded a meeting with KSB to discuss the story. The story was based on reports filed by a Network of KSB investigators after concerns were raised by Kenyan women regarding alleged activities linked to sexual exploitation of Kenyan women by the man.
When he called (mobile telephone on file) and requested a discussion, he said that he wanted a meeting immediately, possibly on the same day. Unfortunately this was not possible because of time factor and engagement on other assignments. He then threatened that he wanted the meeting “before going to police” to report the KSB story. At this point, KSB withdrew possibilities of a discussion and advised him to go directly to police so that we could meet in court.
The fact that the Swede was threatening KSB with legal action means that he doesn’t understand Swedish Press laws. In the first place, he was not named in the story because under Swedish Press laws, a person being portrayed in a negative light is not supposed to be named in order to protect his personal integrity or to prevent his character from coming into disrepute. KSB does not know the Swede in person although the validity of the story that was published was verified. The fact that he was calling KSB and making threats is an indication that there is truth behind what was published while at the same time, his phone call amounted to him trying to identify himself for reasons of driving an empty threat against KSB.
Recently, the Swedish media published a story about a Kenyan who was suspected of having raped two Swedish women. The report said that the Kenyan had also infected the Swedes with the HIV virus, prompting the Swedish media to falsely stamp him “HIV man”, a public stamp normally reserved for suspects who have infected more than 100 women with the HIV virus.
While there were some exaggerations on the story, the Swedish media was acting within the law and the Kenyan could have sued the Swedes if his name was mentioned in the reports. This is just one example. The Swede who was suspected of murdering Juliet Kavinga, a Kenyan woman, was also not named in any media (including KSB where the story got extensive coverage). The suspect in the Juliet case is now free and there is no legal action he can take against the media here because no Press laws were violated.
However, if a crime is of “national importance” or threatens State security, then a suspect could be named especially if he/she is still at large. The suspected killer of former Swedish Foreign Affairs Minister was named in the media even before being taken to court and his personal history retrieved from security database then published in the media because the crime was of “national importance”. A wrong suspect in the murder case who was first arrested and named by the media was later released and compensated. This brief education is important for the benefit of those who do not understand how the Swedish Press laws operate.
THE NAKED TRUTH IS THAT KENYAN LADIES HAVE FALLEN VICTIMS
The threat by the man to KSB could be the tip of an iceberg when it comes to what the Swede might be doing to gullible girls without papers who come under his direct control. If he could threaten a leading information channel of Wakenya in Stockholm such as KSB, what could he do to “paperless girls” who shudder at the mention of police or deportation? The graphic details of the case are still being withheld because the guy is intimidating girls who “have talked” with all sorts of threats.
A Kenyan girl who was made pregnant by the man was allegedly locked in the house 24/7 and she had to find a way of breaking from the house to escape. After her dramatic escape, the lady sounded the alarm before she was rescued by a kind hearted Kenyan. Since she had nowhere to stay during her delicate months of pregnancy, the Kenyan who was helping her organized a way and she was transferred to a refugee camp in the Northern part of Sweden to live under difficult psychological circumstances when in fact she was supposed to be living in a comfortable flat awaiting the day of delivery.
When the lady gave birth to a bouncing baby, she had to face a new problem of a DNA test as she began the difficult life of a single mother hundreds of kilometers away from Stockholm. The lady had to begin doing battle with the question of DNA test because the guy allegedly refused to accept responsibility. As the Swede begins to threaten KSB, our detectives are working round the clock to bring to KSB enthusiasts the “Inside Edition” of the scandal.
KSB is a responsible media channel which will not engage in libel, character assassination, invasion of privacy and other crimes in the business. The maximum the poor guy could do was to request for his version of the story to be published if the KSB version is not correct.
If we named the guy, then KSB would be legally bound to make redress otherwise the blog-site would be exposing itself to trouble. Under the current circumstances, we could only publish his version of the story under the “cloak of sympathy” because he was not named while he did not contribute anything to our investigations which resulted in the production of the story. This is the view from KSB’s legal experts who have also been updated.
The story could have been published in Aftonbladet or any other major Swedish media and we are sure that there is nothing the Swede could have done. We believe that the reason why he is trying empty threats on KSB is because he believes that the blog is being managed by a “bunch of stupid niggers” who know nothing about Swedish press laws.
As part of the progressive Kenyan media, KSB has to stand up and expose serious abuses especially to our dear Kenyan women, some of whom are undergoing through difficult circumstances in this wilderness called Europe. There are many Swedish men taking good care of their Kenyan spouses. But if there are others abusing them in all sorts of ways and information come in our direction, we will make every effort to expose them as long as we are operating with the law. We lost Juliet because she could not be helped. We have to try and prevent another deadly ”Juliet Opera” in Stockholm.
KSB has been intimidated in the past especially during the Maggero exposures in the run up to the Kenyan’s cremation. We were warned by the family to pull down the “Maggero stories” or else not appear at the funeral. We refused to budge. Anti-KSB blogs were even set up but they are all dead now.
The kind of threat we are currently facing is common within the blogging community especially if material is sensitive. In the past, governments have tried to shut down blogs while bloggers have been harassed, intimidated and threatened with both violence and even death.
Here in Sweden, freedom of expression is well established and our advice to the irritated Swede is that if he has anything constructive to say, he needs to be civilized and make approaches without threats otherwise if he wants to go to police, our position is that “We meet in court”. The stories will continue to roll as long as they constitute “The Truth Of The Matter” or, as Kenyans say, “Ukweli Wa Mambo”. If its real, give us a buzz.

Swedish Man In Sexual Exploitation Of Kenyan Women
Kenyans and friends of Kenya have raised the alarm regarding a white Swedish man who has become notorious for exploiting Kenyan women sexually before dumping them. The story was blown by a sympathetic West African woman who is worried that if the sexual adventures of the man are not exposed, the Kenyan and African community in Stockholm might end up with another “Juliet Kavinga case” who was allegedly murdered by a Swedish national. When the case came to court, the Swede was released due to “lack of evidence”.
According to information gathered by KSB, the Swede lives in Tumba and so far, he has sexually exploited a total of 12 women whom he subsequently dumped. His latest exploits are 2 Kenyan women whom he dumped after making them pregnant. It is like he is on some kinda revenge mission and his main tools are young East African women.
“The guy has a passion for East African women especially Kenyans. He has so far used and dumped several Kenyans while at the moment, he is with a Tanzanian lady”, a West African source who sounded very upset told KSB.
Before he moved to Tumba, the Swede was living in Sollentuna. The Kenyan ladies who have fallen victim to the man’s exploits were all dumped after being ballooned. One girl who was identified has a two year old baby while another one was dumped with a baby just a few months old before the predator hooked his latest toy – the Tanzanian lady.
“The problem is that the ladies have to obey the man because they want to stay in Sweden”, a source who is a friend to one of the victims told KSB. “Even if he wants his ass licked after a visit to the toilet, it has to be done otherwise he threatens with deportation”, added the source.
The Swede is divorced from a Swedish woman with whom he had three children before shifting to specialize in African ladies. Although he is 47 years old, he loves girls between 20 and 25 years. A KSB source said that he mainly uses the Internet to hook the girls before converting them into sexual slaves. He knows that the girls he likes would like to settle in Sweden so he consciously uses the element of “Residence Permit” to tie them up into a life of obedience, loyalty, slavery and sexual terror.
Once he gets his catch, he uses the psychological fear of deportation to ensure that the girls are kept in check. Stuck between the prospect of “good life” in Sweden and deportation to Africa, the girls normally give in to “anything” he says. They live lives of isolation and since they have no contacts, they normally have no options.
One girl could be tied to him for a minimum of two years (time it takes for Swedish authorities to issue Permanent Residence Permits also known as PUT). For some unknown reasons, the Swede likes making his victims pregnant before going around talking about his “powers” with other Swedish men. He likes describing how he makes love to the girls and how they submit to his whims during coitus. Within his personal circles, he carries himself as the “Champion of African ladies”.
“This is unacceptable and I hope that this case will soon be taken up by the Swedish authorities”, a source told KSB. The source said that she has already called the Immigration authorities to alert them about what was going on but that the authorities only promised to “investigate”.
“Now, he has taken an innocent Tanzanian lady who is going through hell”, she said in anger.
A strange aspect of the man’s behavior is that after making a girl pregnant, he always insists on a DNA test even if he knows that the girl involved has been literally caged in his house for months with him doing the pumping.
He locks his women in the house 24/7 because he fears that in case they come into contact with others, his unacceptable behavior could be exposed or the girls might be made cleaver by other people. He mainly fears that the girls might take contact with organizations dealing with women’s rights in Sweden and cause him to lose control of the women including inculcation of fear through threats of deportation.

The struggle against Landlessness in Kenya: In this clip, an elderly Kenyan narrates at a political rally in Wundanyi constituency how Kenyans have been threatened by a European who warned that they would be shot dead if they grazed cattle on a piece of land they have been living on for generations. The land was grabbed by a ”white settler” during the days of colonialism and to date, nothing has changed despite “Independence”.
Wakenya, Friends Throng Mbugua’s Residence
Kenyans, friends and sympathizers continue to throng into the residence of Mr. Nashon Mbugua at Lidingo to deliver their condolences to the bereaved family. Mr. Mbgua lost his brother in Kenya and will travel home tomorrow Saturday to attend the funeral next week. A Committee led by Mr. Muritu wa Githu and assisted by Mr. Laban Mberi is in control of the situation. The Committee has set up an “Open House” at Mbugua’s residence where friends can deliver their condolences and console the family.
Addressing mourners at the residence yesterday evening, Mr. Muritu said that Mbugua’s brother collapsed and died on his way home soon after leaving hospital. He was discovered by people who became suspicious when he failed to rise up after a long time. Police was then alerted and when they arrived at the scene, they took the body to the mortuary. In the meantime, police took away his mobile phone and began to call numbers from the phone’s telephone list.
After tracing relatives, they were informed about the death. The deceased, who was 37 years old and running a business in Kitale, was Mbugua’s immediate follower. Despite the tragic moment, Mr. Mbugua continued to remain calm and cool and also chatted with mourners from time to time. He told KSB that since he received the news, he has been in a process of deep reflection.
According to information gathered at the residence, the late was very close to his mother especially after members of the family moved out.
The atmosphere at the residence was somber but Wakenya engaged in free debate about different issues especially Kenyan politics. Members of both ODM-KS and Narc-KS were present. Mr. Muritu, who is one of Mbugua’s best friends, thanked those who had responded at very short notice.
News about the bereavement was broken yesterday evening through KSB and the “Makozewe SMS services”. The level of attendance at such short notice indicated that Mr. Mbugua is “well connected” to Wakenya in Stockholm. The bereaved is a sitting Narc-KS Committee member while he is also well known by Wakenya in Stockholm. More Wakenya are expected at the residence today Friday. Mr. Mberi told KSB that everything was on tack and that Mr. Mbugua will travel to Kenya tomorrow.
Among those who were present at the residence were: Mr. Martin Ngatia, Mr. George Mengo, Mdosi Jeff, Mrs Jacinter Njoroge, Mr. Silas Kimani, Ms Betty Mugo, Mrs Mary Mugo, Mrs Josephine Kirigo Mberi, Mr. Joseph Kamau, Mrs Mary Mwangi, Man Colins, William, Moses among others. The “Open House” session continues until Mr. Mbugua leaves for Kenya.

The newly wedded Pastor Beatrice Kamau has attacked President Mwai Kibaki on the question of free Primary Education in Kenya (also known as FPE). She said that the Kibaki government was using the program for political propaganda even though facts on the grounds indicate that the Program had failed.
“Although free primary education increased participation in the beginning, it created many problems because the Project was unplanned”, she said. She said that both the teaching and learning facilities had been greatly constrained during the introduction of the system which, she said, was done in a hurry for political reasons.
“The speed with which the system was implemented resulted in congestion of class rooms while disparities also exist when it comes to teacher-pupil ratios”, she told KSB. The Pastor said that the failure of the system is based on the fact that thousands of schools are understaffed because prior to the introduction of the system, the critical question of logistics was ignored by the Kibaki government.
“Many Primary schools in Kenya are understaffed and this situation has led to a reduction in the quality of Primary education in Kenya because teachers cannot cope”, she said.
She warned that President Kibaki should stop using the issue of free Primary education for political propaganda because the system had failed. She said that during the second year of implementation of the Project, there was a clear reduction in the inflow of pupils in Primary schools.
“Districts that had recorded 20% increase in new pupil enrollment had reduced to less that 5% at Standard one enrolment in 2003”, she said. She said that lack of facilities and teachers for a smooth implementation of the system were well known by the government which was now trying to portray the Program as having been successful. She said that government officials who are telling the public that the Program had succeeded were, in reality, protecting their jobs because they were afraid of Kibaki’s government.
HEAVY DEPENDENCY ON FOREIGN FUNDING
Warning President Kibaki further, Pastor Beatrice said that whatever the Kibaki government was portraying as “success” in the Program was funded by money from foreign governments.
“We cannot say that the Program has succeeded when it is largely dependent on hand outs from foreign governments”, she told KSB.
In 2003/04, the World Bank pumped in Ksh 3.7 billion, the British government Ksh 1.6 Billion, OPEC Ksh 1.2 Billion, the Swedish government Ksh 430 million, UNICEF Ksh 250 Million among other interventions to fund the Program.
Pastor Beatrice told KSB that while the idea was good, its planning was catastrophic. She said that no government worth its salt could embark on such a huge Project without enough and adequate room for a “transition period” that would put into consideration all factors needed for success.
“The current Program is well beyond the national budget and as long as the cheating Kibaki government continues to tell Kenyans that the Program was successful, the government continued to lie to its own people”, she said.
She said that Kenyans should wake up and vote out the Kibaki government because it had proved that it was incapable of bringing change in Kenya.
She dismissed the government’s assertion that the economy had improved, saying that any improvement in the economy had been in the interest of the rich in Kenya and not the poor.
“Living standards in Kenya continue to go down, prices of essential commodities continue to rise, unemployment in the country has reached over 60% while many Kenyans were faced with starvation so where are the benefits of a growing economy?”, she posed.
“What has increased in Kenya is corruption, tribalism especially in the appointment of public servants, nepotism, rule by the Mafia, inflation, embezzlement of public funds, insecurity, human rights violations and political gangsterism, not the economy”, she told KSB.
The Pastor was concerned that President Kibaki was using the issue of free Primary education and promising Kenyans free secondary education in his election campaigns when it was the tax payer’s money being wasted.
“Kibaki has somehow personalized the issue of free education as if he is fundinding the Project from his own pocket”, she told KSB. “This should not be the case”, she added.
She advised Wakenya to “open their eyes” instead of being cheated in broad day light that Kenya was doing well when the truth is that the country is being torn to pieces by self-seekers and political opportunists who are out to enrich themselves by persistently looting public coffers.
